Growing up in Dublin, San Francisco based singer-songwriter Tony Ryan began writing his own songs so he couldn't be told 'you're not playing that right'. Not surprisingly, his first compositions such as 'Loving you is like banging my head on a concrete wall' didn't set the world on fire, but, undeterred, he kept on writing.

In New York in the 1980's, while trying to make a few bob and see a bit of the world, he made some recordings and for a brief period contemplated the life of an international rock star. The world was not ready, however, for confessionals such as 'Salt into my wounds' and the like, which often found their inspiration in the weekend bender. Instead of the world of punk rock, Tony cooled his ego in the world of sheet rock.

In San Francisco, where he had relocated after coming to the conclusion that New York in winter was too cold a place to be hanging drywall, he cut his performing teeth on the city's open mic scene. The songwriting bug continued to bite and paid gigs materialized in pubs and clubs.

Tony is currently working on a collection of songs that will be released later in 2009.
